The Top 10 Best Goalkeepers in the World (February 2026)

10. Mile Svilar

Serbia hasn’t given him a chance on the international stage yet, but Mile Svilar is a top goalkeeper for AS Roma. Rarely spoken about, Svilar has been up with some of the best goalkeepers in the Serie A, with 75 saves in the league alone with 11 clean sheets so far. He’s kept Roma near the top of the table, with outstanding saves against any opposition, only conceding 16 in the league all season, the least of all teams. His age of just 26 gives him around a decade of peak performance, due to the requirements of goalkeeping, so he has far more to give to football and as the 24/25 Serie A Goalkeeper of the year, may retain that title based off his performances thus far this season.

9. Jan Oblak

Atletico Madrid may not have the best defense in the world, but their top class Slovenian in net is always there to bail them out. Oblak has always been a world class keeper, but it is taking him longer than expected to face a drop off. This season, he’s been the 2nd best in clean sheets in LaLiga, and has had fantastic shutouts like against Mallorca, Osasuna, Girona, and Real Betis just to name a few. Atletico Madrid have always had a compact shape but the silent hero in the formula that is Atletico is Jan Oblak. It’s unknown how much the 33 year old has left in the beautiful game, but hopefully his magic continues to shine on for as long as it can.

8. Yann Sommer

Inter Milan sit top of the Serie A for a reason. Tied in first place for most clean sheets at 12 in the Serie A, Sommer has had fantastic performances in recent memory such as the legs against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals last season and even at Borussia Monchengladbach against Bayern Munich, but his excellence persists even after retiring from the Swiss national team. Inter Milan have yet to need to look for a replacement as Inter have conceded only 21 goals in the league, the third best record. His fantastic reflexes and reaction time have saved Inter in various moments and keeping them competitive in competitions both in Europe and domestically.

7. Joan Garcia

Often you hear the name Joan Garcia as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he is, but his mistake-prone nature is often glossed over in favor of highlighting his saving ability alone. He’s helped shore up the defense at Barcelona which can be risky with their high line, but various mistakes, like the ones against Real Oviedo and Atletico Madrid most recently, can be costly. He’s also prone to conceding, with 25 allowed in all competitions. While he has moments of brilliance in his locker, he has yet to iron out the kinks in his game, mainly lapses in concentration or judgement that can hurt his team if capitalized upon. This only mentioned in congruence with a solid save percentage in LaLiga of 79%, showing a shot stopping quality that must be mentioned.

6. Gregor Kobel

A strangely underrated keeper, Gregor Kobel has the most clean sheets in the Bundesliga. He’s taken over the mantle of Swiss goalkeeper from Yann Sommer doing brilliantly, also being part of the new age of Dortmund where he’s taken them to within touching distance of Bayern, where they were once out of reach. He’s had poor performances in the Champions League with only one clean sheet out of eight, but that is likely in congruence with a shaky backline, seeing how he’s managed 23 saves in those 8 games. His name has always been floated around in top keeper conversations, but now he is truly making a name for himself and competing with some of the best in world football to be named as the best goalkeeper and at the age of 28, still has many years left to go.

5. Mike Maignan

They call him Magic Mike for a reason, as the frenchman has turned the corner alongside Milan to take a title charge. The 30 year old has seen silverware before, winning various titles across borders, but has really returned to his best with 11 clean sheets in all competitions for Milan. After a year without European competition, he’s started to lock it down for Milan with them sitting 2nd in the Serie A and likely back to Champions League status for next season. He’s France’s number one in a year of great importance with the World Cup on the horizon, he’s proving why he’s the top dog in Lloris’ absence with 65 saves in all competitions. If Milan end up hounding down Inter and winning the league title, Maignan will be a huge reason why they ended up with the Scudetto.

4. Alisson

The Brazilian’s missed time with injury this season, but even before and after, he’s been special in goal for Liverpool. Most recently, he was part of the reason why the reds managed to get a clean sheet in the first Sunderland home defeat of the season in a 1-0 win. He is Brazil ‘s undisputed number one as it stands due to his pedigree and consistency over the years. While his best years may be behind him, he is still an elite shot-stopper and even as recently as last season, he was one of the few best goalkeepers with fantastic performances like against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. When the dust settles in May, his statistics may be more favorable as he stacks up more appearances in the wake of his injury.

3. Thibaut Courtois

After such a long time out with injury, there were worries over whether Courtois would remain as good as he’d been before. Well, those nerves were calmed as he’s returned with the most clean sheets in LaLiga, taking Madrid back to a competitive level, fighting tooth and nail with Barcelona for the league title. In his spotty appearances last season, he still impressed, but his consistent quality has shone this season. While he may not be as agile as he once was, his reflex abilities have been maintained. He may not be the best he’s ever been, but he is still at a world class level, with Real Madrid likely not wanting to get rid of him any time soon. He may well go down as not only one of the best goalkeepers of this era, but of all time.

2. Gianluigi Donnarumma

One of the top signings of the summer, Donnarumma transformed a lackluster Manchester City side back into title contenders. The Italian won all he could at PSG over his time there, winning the Champions League for the club for the first time. Manchester City sold long term veteran Ederson to Fenerbahce to confusion from many. But the decision proved ingenious when the Italian slotted in like a glove into the Manchester-based side. His key saves such as the one away to Liverpool and so on, have been crucial to keeping up pace with Arsenal, and it would be fair to say Manchester City’s improvement has almost directly been in line with his addition to the squad. When James Trafford joined City slightly before Donnarumma, some thought there might be a struggle for the starter position, but the Italian quickly claimed it with ease, and for a reasonable price of 30 or so million pounds; a bargain. If Manchester City somehow win the league title, he will be the main reason as to why.

1. David Raya

David Raya is the best goalkeeper in the world. At least according to Thibaut Courtois, and any Arsenal fans. He has won the Premier League golden glove two years on the bounce and has already equaled his clean sheet record of last season of 13 clean sheets, but this time by February, likely allowing for his best record at Arsenal, and likely securing his 3rd consecutive golden glove. It seems as if, sometimes he can’t go without a world class save in a game, with a record of double penalty saves, masterful clean sheet performances against top sides. He’s only conceded 3 or more goals once at Arsenal in his time there and that was the recent game against Manchester United. Not only is his shot-stopping borderline perfection, his distribution is almost robotic. He slots into the back line, able to link up play even from the edge of the box, and is often sweeping, slide tackling into defenders and sending it out for corners with essentially zero accidents to date. It must be noted his brilliance is likely in tandem with the best defense in world football, with the two best center backs in the world and top fullbacks being his partners. It would not be surprising if he even dethrones the strange favorite, Unai Simon, of Luis de La Fuente of Spain to be their number one ahead of the World Cup, should Arsenal do something special this season.
