The American holding midfielder Tanner Tessmann from Olympique Lyonnais has absolutely stunned Europe in this start to the 25/26 season. It’s not his first season for the french outfit, but he has certainly instated himself as a key player in the team. In back to back games he’s scored the 2nd half goal in a 1-0 win, first at home against stalwart top flight Ligue 1 side Angers in the 65th minute from inside the box, then following it up with a first European goal, coming on in a tight 0-0 situation, scoring a bending rocket from outside the box to win the match 1-0 in the 75th minute. He’s not just a goalscoring game winner, though, the United States international is a game-runner, with plenty of key passes and 5 defensive actions in his last two matches, despite only playing 115 minutes out of the two games. It’s not his first time scoring, much less for Lyon, he’s always had a knack for goal. But a consistent game-winning mentality and his decisive control over the matches he features in, makes him a fantastic player. Lyon have always uncovered underrated gems, and this one in Tanner Tessmann is surely one to watch.
